ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday strongly rejected allegations made by India's Home Minister linking certain arrests in India to Pakistan, and instead accused New Delhi of sponsoring terrorism across South Asia.

In an official statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan "strongly rejects the allegations made by India's home minister, attempting to link Pakistan with certain arrests in India".

He described the assertions as "yet another demonstration of India's malicious campaign against Pakistan to divert attention from its domestic security challenges and to blame Pakistan for narrow domestic political gains".

The statement further accused India of being a "repressive state" at home and "exporting terror and abetting terrorists" abroad. It said "unfounded Indian insinuations cannot divert international attention away from India's state-sponsored terrorism, targeted assassinations, and subversion in foreign territories".

The Foreign Office noted that Pakistan has repeatedly shared evidence of India's involvement in destabilising activities, pointing to the case of convicted Indian naval commander Kulbhushan Jadhav as "undeniable proof of India's direct involvement in subversion and terrorism in Pakistan".

Pakistan has consistently maintained that India is sponsoring militant groups to target the country, including the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and the Balochistan Liberation Army. The military has designated these groups as "Fitna-al-Hindustan" to highlight India's alleged role in terrorism and destabilisation across the country.

The Foreign Office urged the international community to reject what it called "baseless" Indian allegations and hold India accountable for its "state-sponsored terrorism in the region".
