ISLAMABAD (AA) - Pakistan's political crisis is growing after the government booked Imran Khan, former Prime Minister and popular leader of the South Asian country under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The 11 parties’ alliance government move pushed the country into a deep crisis as Khan’s party leader warned to take over Islamabad by force.

Currently, thousands of Khan’s supporters gathered around his residence near Islamabad to protect him from arrest.

People across the country are at their war after Khan’s close associate and former member of his cabinet Murad Saeed tweeted, who said that the government has issued an order to arrest the former premier and he urged the supporters to come out of homes to protect Khan.

Soon after his tweet, hundreds of people along with their families converged on Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence and they blocked all entrance toward Khan residence.

"Imran Khan is a red line for us,” Saeed said.

According to Islamabad police, they registered a case against Khan for "terrorizing and threatening" police officers and a female judge at a rally in Islamabad on Saturday.

Former cricket star-turned-politician had said he will take legal action against the officials for the alleged torturing of Shahbaz Gill, his close aide and chief of staff, in police custody. Gill faces sedition charges for remarks that allegedly aimed to incite mutiny within Pakistan’s powerful military.

Meanwhile, former Federal Minister Ali Amin Gandapur warned that they will take over Islamabad if police arrested Khan.

"If imran khan is arrested by the imported govt we will take over Islamabad and my message to police is that don’t be part of this political war anymore otherwise will deal u as PDM workers not police anymore let PTI and PDM leadership and workers fight and decide once and for all," he tweeted.

Earlier on Sunday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that government will arrest Khan.

However, on Monday Islamabad High Court granted three days of pre-arrest bail to Khan for three days and ordered him to appear before the anti-terrorism court within three days.

Meanwhile, Pakistani authorities also arrested another TV anchor and journalist Jameel Farooqui in Karachi.

According to Bol TV, anchor Farooqui is missing since last night and his mobile is switched off.

However, Islamabad Police confirmed that he has been arrested in case of making false allegations against them.

Independent journalists who are not supporting the government are facing a tough situation as some of them lift the country while other are facing arrest and harassment.
