Nine police officers martyred, 51 terrorists killed in separate security operations across Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan - At least nine police officers were martyred and 51 terrorists were killed in separate clashes and counterterrorism operations across Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province over the past 48 hours, according to police and military officials.

 

The deadliest incident occurred in Hangu district, where heavily armed terrorists attacked the Khazina Banda police checkpoint.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police said officers defending the post engaged the attackers in an intense gun battle before reinforcements dispatched to the area were ambushed, damaging an armored personnel carrier.

 

Police said 15 terrorists were killed in the operation, while the exchange of fire was continuing. Among the martyred officers was Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Diyar Khan. In total, nine police personnel were martyred and 28 others, including DSP Mujahid Hussain, were injured, according to the provincial police.

 

Earlier, the military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said security forces killed 36 terrorists in intelligence-based operations, including 24 in Khyber district and eight in Balochistan's Nushki district, while another four suspected terrorists were killed in a separate operation in Swat district.
