Pakistan, China reaffirm ‘all-weather’ partnership, discuss regional peace efforts

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan and China reaffirmed their close strategic partnership during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong on Wednesday, according to an official statement.

 

The ambassador called on the prime minister in Islamabad, where senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, were also present.

 

Sharif conveyed his greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, expressing satisfaction over what he described as the “positive trajectory” of bilateral ties. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to its “All-Weather Cooperative Strategic Partnership” with China and pledged to further deepen cooperation across sectors.

 

The meeting also focused on the evolving situation in the Middle East and Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.

 

Ambassador Jiang thanked the prime minister for the meeting and praised Pakistan’s role in supporting dialogue and de-escalation efforts. He reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to strengthening its “iron-clad” relationship with Islamabad and advancing cooperation in line with the vision of the Chinese leadership.

 

Both sides underscored the importance of continued coordination on regional and global issues, reflecting their longstanding strategic alignment.
