Five Killed, Including Four Schoolchildren, in Khuzdar Terror Attack: Pakistan Accuses India of Sponsorship

By The South Asia Times

Khuzdar, Balochistan — A devastating terrorist attack targeting a school bus in the Khuzdar district of southwestern Balochistan province on Tuesday claimed the lives of five individuals, including four schoolchildren. Several others sustained injuries in the blast, according to Pakistani authorities.

The bus was reportedly en route to a local school when it was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED), causing widespread panic and sorrow across the region.

Rescue teams and security forces rushed to the site, and the injured were transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.

In a strongly worded statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, blamed the attack on what it described as “Indian-sponsored terrorism.”

"In yet another cowardly and ghastly attack planned and orchestrated by the terrorist state of India and executed by its proxies in Balochistan, an innocent school-going children’s bus was targeted today in Khuzdar," the ISPR said.

The military further alleged that following the Indian defeat in recent Operation Bunnianum Marsoos—a recent counterterrorism campaign—India has resorted to using non-state actors to carry out attacks against soft targets in Pakistan.

“These proxies are now targeting innocent civilians and children to spread terror and unrest, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the statement added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, calling it a “barbaric act against the future of Pakistan.”

“India has now launched an attack on education in Pakistan,” he said. “We will not allow this brutality to go unanswered. Our government will ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”

The ISPR vowed that Pakistani security forces, with the support of the nation, will “relentlessly pursue the planners, abettors, and perpetrators of this attack” and expose what it called the “heinous face of Indian state-sponsored terrorism” to the world.

Indian officials have not responded to the allegations at the time of publishing.

Security has been tightened across Balochistan, and investigations are ongoing. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
