By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received congratulatory calls from his Turkish, Bahraini, and Canadian counterparts on Thursday following the historic signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan congratulated Pakistan on the landmark agreement, which was signed in Islamabad with Pakistan serving as mediator. Both leaders expressed hope that the development would contribute to "lasting peace, stability, and progress in the region and beyond," according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani also lauded Pakistan's "constructive mediation role" in facilitating the understanding between Washington and Tehran. Both sides reaffirmed the strong brotherly ties between Pakistan and Bahrain.

Later, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand commended Pakistan's role in supporting diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts. The two ministers discussed the forthcoming engagement between the parties in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, scheduled for Friday, and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding Pakistan-Canada cooperation.

The calls underscore the international community's recognition of Pakistan's diplomatic success in bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiating table after months of devastating conflict.
