Pakistan Navy Seizes Narcotics Worth $972 Million in Arabian Sea Operation

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - In a major counter-narcotics operation, Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Yarmook seized narcotics valued at approximately $972 million in the North Arabian Sea, the Navy’s media wing said on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out while PNS Yarmook was operating under the Saudi-led Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150), part of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) — a 47-nation partnership aimed at ensuring maritime stability and deterring illegal activities across key sea routes.

According to the Navy statement, the successful operation demonstrates Pakistan Navy’s “unwavering commitment to regional maritime security, global peace, and the collective fight against illicit trafficking at sea.”

Following the operation, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf commended the crew of PNS Yarmook for their professionalism and dedication.

He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Navy remains steadfast in safeguarding national maritime interests while actively contributing to global maritime security through cooperative efforts.

Admiral Ashraf noted that PNS Yarmook’s participation in the Saudi-led task force would further enhance interoperability between the Pakistani and Saudi navies and strengthen defence collaboration between the two countries.

The Navy said Pakistan’s continued success in multinational maritime missions highlights its role as a responsible regional and global maritime partner, dedicated to promoting peace, stability, and security across the Indian Ocean Region.
