No space for Indian intelligence agents in Afghanistan, Taliban tells Indian delegation

KABUL: Afghan Taliban leaders told the visiting Indian delegation that the new government welcomes investment from all countries including New Delhi but there is no room for India to send back its intelligence agents to Afghanistan. 

 

On Thursday,  Joint Secretary of Indian Foreign Ministry  J.P. Singh met with Taliban Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul and discussed the India, Afghanistan relations.

Singh said his country wants to come back to Afghanistan and invest in different projects and reopen its embassy and consulates, according to Taliban sources.

 

Muttaqi welcomed the Indian offer and said Taliban government wants that all countries should reopen their embassies and they will provide security to them.

“Muttaqi told him that in past India used Afghan soil against Pakistan but now there is no room for such activities in Afghanistan,” an official told the South Asia Times on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak with media. 

 

“We want good relations with all countries but will never allow anyone to use our soil against other countries,” he added. 

 

The Indian delegation for the first time visited Afghanistan after Taliban took over Kabul in mid-August last year. 

 

India was among those countries who calling Taliban as terrorists and saying they would  never establish diplomatic ties with them.

 

However, later New Delhi repeatedly requested Russia, and some middle eastern countries to help them to send a delegation to Kabul as New Delhi want to establish its ties with the Taliban.

 

On Thursday clear message from the Taliban apparently, dishurt the Indian delegation as the Taliban will not allow its notorious intelligence agency RAW to send its agents and use Afghan soil Against Pakistan and China. 

 

Muttaqi also raised the issue of over 5,000 Indian students who were expelled by India after August 2021 and said India should resolve this issue.

 

Some Afghans on social media criticized the Indian delegation's visit to Kabul and urged Taliban to not  trust New Delhi.

 

“ India is a country that expel our 5,000 students last year and destroyed our future,” Murtaza Naeemi, a student who was studying in New Delhi said.

“Now I hate these Indian, they never could become our friends but they want to use us against Pakistan,” he added. 

 

“Taliban should take care as Indians are very Cunning and they are not interested in any uplift of Afghan people but they just want to use soil against their enemy,” Ahmed Zia said.
