ISLAMABAD: Several workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf were wounded in clashes with police in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab on Wednesday.

Police forcefully wanted to stop the PTI workers who were on their way to Islamabad to attend the former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Azadi March.

However, when the PTI workers started their rally, the police fired tear gas, shelling and baton-charge in an effort to disperse the peaceful procession.

Police also deployed masked goons who broke the vehicles of PTI leaders and workers which caused huge tension in the city.

A video widely shared on social media showed that some goons with the masked face have sticks and breaking the window mirrors of vehicles.

PTI leaders condemned the use of force against their workers and said government want to create a law and order situation.

“Mangla police first use tea gas and then direct fired at our workers,” said PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry.

He condemned the use of force against peaceful protestors and said they would cross all barriers and would reach Islamabad.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan is leading a massive rally from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and on his way to Islamabad.

Khan reached Swabi by helicopter from Peshawar along with other leaders.

In his short message, Khan said that today is a day for real independence to get rid of imported government imposed by the US.

Khan urged people to reach Islamabad and join him at D-Chowk in front of Parliament House.

On Tuesday noon, the country's top court also took notice of government restrictions and blockage of roads and ordered to remove of the barriers and allow Khan to hold a peaceful march in the capital.

“The three-member apex court while hearing a petition against the blockade of roads in the federal capital directed the chief commissioner Islamabad to arrange an alternate place for PTI’s long march. “The chief commissioner and chief secretary should sit with the PTI leaders and hold talks to resolve the matter,” the Supreme Court directed,” according to ARY news
