US double standard: Pakistan slams US, India for unwarranted reference in its joint statement

By Zahid Shah

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan on Wednesday rejected the US and India's unwarranted reference in their joint statement issued after the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue on Monday.

In a statement, Pakistan Foreign Ministry said that the gratuitous reference in the statement alluding to some non-existent and dismantled entities betrays misplaced counter-terrorism focus of both countries.

“It is unfortunate that a bilateral cooperation mechanism is being used to target a third country for political expediency and to mislead public opinion away from the real and emerging terrorism threats.

“The assertions made against Pakistan in the statement are malicious and lack any credibility,” said the ministry.

On Monday, in a joint statement issued by the US and Indian foreign and defense ministers, they urged Pakistan to take immediate, sustained, and irreversible action" to ensure that no territory under its control was used for terrorist attacks.

However, the world’s so-called human rights champion remained silent over the ongoing human rights violation of minorities in India and Kashmir and the state-sponsored terrorism by India in Pakistan.

Pakistan already shared all proofs of Indian involvement in terrorism in Pakistan and war crimes committed by Indian forces in Kashmir with the UN, UNSC, and other world organization but so far no action has been taken by these organizations against India.

The Pakistan Foreign Ministry, while referring to its four decades-long alliance with the US in the Afghan war, said that Islamabad has remained a major, proactive, reliable, and willing partner of the international community in the global fight against terrorism.

“Pakistan’s successes and sacrifices in countering terrorism are unparalleled and widely acknowledged by the international community, including the United States. No country in the region has sacrificed more for peace than Pakistan,” it’s said.

Pakistan had lost over 80,000 lives and over $120 billion economic loss to its economy because of its alliance with the US during its so-called war against terror in Afghanistan.

Pakistan's former PM Imran Khan was criticizing the US for joining hands with India after destroying his country in the Afghan war in the name of a so-called ally.

Due to Khan's huge criticism against the US at the world forum, his government was toppled last week, and according to Imran Khan, the regime change conspiracy was planned in Washington.

However, the US so far denies the allegation.

“India’s insinuations against Pakistan are in fact a desperate attempt to conceal its state-terrorism and brutal atrocities against the subjugated Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Responsible members of the international community must condemn India’s use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy and the impunity that continues to be associated with it.

“India’s terrorism network using the soil of other countries and through supporting UN-designated terrorist organizations is on record. Failing to take cognizance of this serious situation is tantamount to abdication of international responsibility,” said Pakistan Foreign Ministry.

Islamabad said they expect Washington and other countries to take an objective view of the issues of peace and security in South Asia and refrain from associating themselves with positions that are one-sided, politically motivated, and divorced from ground realities.

Pakistan Foreign Ministry also conveyed its concerns and rejection of the unwarranted reference to Islamabad in the U.S.-India Statement to the U.S. side through diplomatic channels in Islamabad.
