Pakistan sends relief assistance to flood-hit areas of Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD (TSAT) - Pakistan on Saturday sent a relief package to flood-hit areas of Afghanistan to help the affected families. 

 

 

A Special C -130 carrying the relief assistance comprising family tentage and rations landed in  Mazar e Sharif, according to officials. 

 

This was the first sortie that flew from Noor khan airbase where the Pakistan ambassador to Kabul Mansoor was also present.

 

“First consignment of relief goods for the flood affectees has reached Afghanistan to be followed by more relief measures. Pakistan will continue to stand by Afghan brothers & sisters through thick & thin. International community shouldn't forget Afghan people in this hour of need,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Tweeted.

 

According to the Pakistan ambassador, the consignment of relief items including tents, food items, and medicines was delivered by Pakistan’s Charge d’Affairs Saifullah Khan to Afghan disaster management organizations at Mazar-i-Sharif Airport.

 

Heavy flood hit at least 10 provinces of the war-torn country last week that destroyed hundreds of houses, shops, and properties while at least 22 people lost lives and dozens other wounded.
