In India during the last seven decades the Muslim women never barred from wearing Hijab and local authorities always respect them as the India constitution also protected the rights of freedom of religion.

However, the minorities came under attacks since 2014 after Narendra Modi, the hardline Hindu nationalist Prime Minister, came into power.

Last month, the local authorities in Karnataka state banned the Muslim girls from entering the education institutions with Hijab which created tension in the state as Muslim girls protesting against the unconstitutional act of local government.

According to NDTV, a local Indian broadcaster, the local right wing Hindu groups, affiliated with ruling BJP party, asked the young Hindu students to sneak saffron and blocked Muslim girls who are protesting against the local authorities decision to barred them from education.

“This is Bharat (India) and students will follow Hindu culture," NDTV quoted Naveen Gangolli, a leader of Hindu extremist Jagrana Vedike group.

Gangolli said they asked their young students to wear “Saffron” and counter the Muslim girls.

Footages on local TV channels on Tuesday showed that police who were deployed for security near the colleagues also didn’t stopped the Hindu students who were teasing the Muslim girls and trying to stop them from entering to colleague.

Meanwhile, the Dalit students on Tuesday also came out in the state’s colleges in support of Muslim girls and said they will stand with Muslims as the current government want to close doors of educational institutions on minorities and lower class Hindus.

Indian media reported that during the today faced-off between students, two Hindu extremist also tried to attack on Muslim girls with knives who were later arrested by the police.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has called for calm as the court looks to settle the matter, saying: "All concerned people should keep the peace and let children study. The matter will be presented in the High Court... let's wait for it,” according to NDTV.
