By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will arrive in Pakistan on August 21, to co-chair the 6th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, the Foreign Office said on Tuesday

The visit comes at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. Wang, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, will lead Beijing’s delegation at the high-level talks in Islamabad.

According to the Foreign Office, the dialogue is part of regular high-level exchanges aimed at further deepening the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between the two countries. Discussions will cover a wide range of areas, including reaffirming support for each other’s core interests, boosting economic and trade cooperation, and enhancing their joint commitment to regional peace, development and stability.

Wang’s visit follows his recent trip to India, where China and New Delhi continue to face longstanding tensions over their disputed border. His arrival in Islamabad is seen as a signal of Beijing’s strong support for Pakistan amid regional geopolitical challenges.

The Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue was last held in Beijing in 2023, and has become an important platform for both sides to coordinate positions on bilateral, regional, and global issues.
