'China not helping me over Iran,' Trump downplays Beijing’s role in Iran conflict

By The South Asia Times

WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump said he is not “overly disappointed” with China’s role in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, suggesting Beijing’s support for Tehran has been limited.

In remarks to Fox News, Trump said China “could help a lot more” but indicated its involvement had not significantly altered the situation. He compared Beijing’s stance to Washington’s own support for partners in other conflicts, including Ukraine.

Trump also took a firm position on negotiations with Tehran, saying the United States would not send officials abroad for talks and that Iran should instead engage directly with Washington. “We have all the cards,” he said, adding that any agreement must ensure Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon.

The US president reiterated that control over Iran’s enriched uranium would be a central demand in any deal, describing it as a key element of negotiations.

He further warned that Iran’s oil sector is under mounting pressure due to the US naval blockade, claiming the country faces severe constraints on exporting crude. Trump said the strain could significantly reduce Iran’s oil production capacity if the situation persists.

There was no immediate response from Iranian officials to the remarks.
