ISLAMABAD - Pakistan and Myanmar on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations, with both sides agreeing to expand cooperation in trade, economic engagement, education, culture, capacity-building, and people-to-people exchanges.

The understanding was reached during a courtesy call by Myanmar’s Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, U Than Swe, on the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, who welcomed the visiting dignitary and underscored the importance of deepening longstanding ties between the two countries.

The prime minister also appreciated Myanmar’s cooperation in combating human trafficking and its support for Pakistan’s engagement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Foreign Minister Than Swe conveyed greetings and good wishes from Myanmar’s leadership and expressed his country’s desire to broaden cooperation with Pakistan in areas of mutual interest. He also thanked Pakistan for its timely assistance following the catastrophic earthquake in Myanmar on March 28, 2025.
