By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Türkiye on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their multifaceted bilateral cooperation as high-level Turkish officials arrived in Islamabad last night for a series of meetings under the framework of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) and the newly established Joint Commission.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar hosted Türkiye’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, and Minister of National Defence, Yasar Güler, for talks aimed at boosting ties in key sectors including trade, investment, energy, and defense.

Welcoming the Turkish dignitaries, Dar emphasized the "close and brotherly" relations between the two countries and praised the growing momentum in their bilateral cooperation. He noted that all twelve Joint Standing Committees under the HLSCC framework have either convened or are set to meet in the coming weeks, according to statement, issued Pakistan foreign ministry.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan conveyed greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and reiterated Ankara’s strong desire to enhance cooperation with Islamabad. He highlighted the historical, cultural, and religious ties that bind the two nations.

This marked the inaugural session of the Joint Commission co-chaired by the foreign ministers, established during the HLSCC’s last session in Islamabad in February. The officials also discussed preparations for the upcoming Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) meeting, to be led by Türkiye’s Defense Minister and Pakistan’s Commerce Minister, Jam Kamal Khan.

Both sides exchanged views on regional and global developments and reiterated their commitment to promoting peace, stability, and development across the region.

The visit underscores the deep-rooted partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye and their continued efforts to advance strategic collaboration across multiple domains.
