Pakistan's top diplomat holds talks with Iran, Canada, Poland counterparts as US-Iran ceasefire holds

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD –  Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar engaged in a flurry of diplomatic calls Saturday with his counterparts from Iran, Canada, and Poland as the US-Iran ceasefire continued.

Dar spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing "the need for continued dialogue and engagement as essential to resolving current issues as soon as possible" to promote regional peace and stability.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact and confirmed that the Iranian President and Pakistani Prime Minister will speak later today.

Later, Dar spoke with Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand. They reviewed regional developments, with Anand expressing support for Pakistan's "continued efforts to advance sustained dialogue and constructive engagement between the parties." Both sides expressed hope for lasting peace and a durable ceasefire across the region, including in Lebanon.

Dar also received a call from Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, who commended Pakistan's efforts in facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and the United States. Sikorski appreciated Pakistan's "continued commitment to dialogue and diplomacy" and invited Dar to visit Poland in June 2026.

The calls underscore Pakistan's growing role as a diplomatic bridge amid the widening Middle East crisis.
