Dar meets Turkish counterpart, reaffirms solidarity with Palestine

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD — Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Tuesday he met his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the 21st extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers.

In a post on X, Dar said he conveyed his “deep appreciation” to Türkiye for its leadership as chair of the 51st OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.

He said the two sides reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Palestine amid the worsening humanitarian crisis, growing famine, and the urgent need for aid and relief.

“Pleased to meet my brother, FM of Türkiye, H.E. Hakan Fidan, today … We affirmed firm solidarity with Palestine, noting the worsening humanitarian crisis and famine, and the urgent need for humanitarian aid and relief,” Dar wrote.

He added that Pakistan and Türkiye also reaffirmed their “brotherly” bilateral relations and expressed readiness to further strengthen their multifaceted cooperation.

The OIC session is being held to deliberate on the situation in Gaza, where Israel’s ongoing military campaign has killed tens of thousands and left millions in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
