Pakistan Repels Afghan Taliban and TTP Attacks in Spin Boldak and Kurram Sectors

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD, Oct 15 — Pakistan’s security forces effectively repelled a series of cross-border attacks launched by Afghan Taliban and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in the early hours of Tuesday, according to official and security sources.

The Afghan Taliban initiated coordinated assaults at four locations in the Spin Boldak area of Balochistan, using divided border villages and putting civilian lives at risk. “The cowardly attack was orchestrated through divided villages with no regard for the safety of local populations,” Pakistan army said in a statement .

In the ensuing response, Pakistani forces decisively repelled the attackers, killing 15–20 Taliban fighters and injuring several others. During the fighting, the Taliban destroyed the Pak-Afghan Friendship Gate on their side of the border — a move officials said reflected their disregard for cross-border trade and the rights of divided tribal communities.

The situation along the border remains tense, with intelligence suggesting further militant build-up in staging areas of Fitna al-Khawarij and the Afghan Taliban near Spin Boldak.

Meanwhile, a separate overnight assault in the Kurram Sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also foiled by Pakistani troops, who destroyed eight Taliban posts and six tanks in a counter-operation that killed an estimated 25–30 militants. Pakistani forces also seized U.S.-made weapons from the site.

Rejecting Taliban claims that Pakistan initiated the clashes, officials called such statements “outrageous and baseless propaganda,” asserting that the Taliban regime’s allegations can be debunked by basic facts.

“The Armed Forces stand resolute and fully prepared to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan,” the statement concluded, vowing that any act of aggression will be met with full force.

Earlier, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that 12 Afghans were killed and over 100 injured in the morning clashes but did not clarify the number of Taliban casualties. Pakistan’s security officials maintain that over 250 Taliban and TTP militants have been killed in border clashes since Saturday.
