Security Forces Foil Suicide Bombing, Kill Three Terrorists in North Waziristan

By The South Asia Times

RAWALPINDI — Pakistani security forces foiled a major terrorist plot and averted a potential large-scale attack during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Jhallar area of North Waziristan district, the military said on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated the presence of militants linked to Fitna al Khwarij, described as an Indian-backed group preparing a vehicle-borne suicide bombing.

“During the conduct of the operation, troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and, through precise and skillful action, destroyed the vehicle being prepared for the suicide attack,” the statement said. “Three Indian-sponsored Khwarij were also eliminated.”

Following the operation, a sanitization process was underway to ensure no remaining militants were hiding in the area, ISPR added.

The military reaffirmed that the counterterrorism campaign under Vision Azm-e-Istehkam — approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan — will continue “at full pace” to eradicate all forms of foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.

“The sacrifices and dedication of our brave soldiers further strengthen our national resolve to ensure lasting peace and stability,” the statement concluded.
