Pakistan political crisis worsening as Punjab again likely to move to constitutional crisis

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's largest province Punjab again pushing to a constitutional crisis by the ruling alliance in the center as the Speaker of the provincial assembly rejected the Governor's order for seeking a vote of confidence by Chief Minister Parvez Elahi. 

 

Speaker Sibtain Khan termed it “illegal, and refused to summon the assembly session on Wednesday.

 

However, the ruling alliance threatened that Governor Balighurehman, who is belonging to the party of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, can denotify the Chief Minister after the speaker refused to summon the assembly session. 

 

13 parties alliance in the center leading by Prime Minister Sharif trying to stop the dissolution of the provincial assembly as former PM Imran Khan already announced to dissolve the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies on Friday.

Khan wants to pave the way to end the ongoing political crisis in the country and hold fresh elections, however, the 13 parties alliance fear that they could face defeat in the election as Khan currently enjoys massive popularity in the country. 

Federal Ministers are expected to announce their next strategy today late at night.
