Iran Warns US and Israel Amid Rising Tensions, Cites Foreign Interference in Protests

By The South Asia Times

Tehran — Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, issued a stern warning to the United States and Israel, saying that in the event of any attack, Iranian forces would target US military bases, naval vessels, and Israeli territories.

In a video riral on social media, he added that preemptive strikes could not be ruled out, underscoring Tehran’s increasingly confrontational stance amid escalating regional tensions.

The statement comes days after former US President Donald Trump commented on Saturday that the US “must remain ready to respond” to Iran’s provocations, highlighting the heightened rhetoric between Tehran and Washington.

Meanwhile, several journalists have reported receiving emails from the media wing of Reza Pahlavi and his supporters living in Western countries. The emails reportedly request interviews with experts and support for ongoing protests in Iran. Some observers suggest these communications could lend credence to Iranian authorities’ claims that foreign actors are attempting to influence domestic unrest.

The Iranian government has repeatedly alleged that external powers are backing the protests, framing them as part of a broader campaign to destabilize the country. Tehran’s latest warnings and the purported foreign outreach to media organizations come amid growing concerns over security and public demonstrations.

Analysts say the situation reflects both Tehran’s determination to assert its defense capabilities and its effort to counter what it perceives as foreign interference in internal affairs.
