Indian foreign ministry’s false claim of attack on Hindu temple in Pakistan exposed

By Rabia Malik

KARACHI: Indian Foreign Ministry on Thursday claimed that some people attacked on Hindu temple in Pakistan southren port city of Karachi while no such incident happened in the city.

The Indian Foreign Ministry said they noted an incident of vandalization of a Hindu temple in Karachi and believed that it's another act of systemic persecution of religious minorities.

“We've conveyed our protest to Pakistan Govt, urging them to ensure safety, security & well-being of its minority communities,” ANI quoted the ministry as saying.

While on the ground no such incident occurred in Karachi as no one attacked the Hindu temple.

“It's important to discern facts from Modi govt's propaganda. The house of Pandit in Karachi adjacent to Temple was under renovation. The contractors hired by Pandit inflicted damage on the idols,” a local resident claimed.

“This was not an act of organized vandalism as falsely claimed by Indian MEA and Indian media which is nothing but a veritable arm of Indian propaganda machine. This is a classic case of the fascist BJP govt trying to equate and cover it's gross human rights records by bashing Pakistan over incidents that even didn’t occur,” he added.

The recent Indian claim comes when New Delhi is facing tough criticism from the Muslim world after ruling party leaders insulted Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The Indian Foreign Ministry attempted to divert the attention from the main issue as so far the Indian government has refused to condemn and apologize to Muslims publically over the derogatory remarks of its spokesperson against the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

  • Pakistan Foreign Ministry reaction

Meanwhile, Pakistan Foreign Ministry in a statement rejected the remarks made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson and said that government of Pakistan has taken notice against the contractors.

"Unlike the violence against the Muslim community that is orchestrated by religious fanatics who enjoy full patronage of India’s state machinery, the Government of Pakistan is seized of this matter and action is being taken against the perpetrators. An FIR has already been registered against the assailants and efforts are underway to identify and arrest them. They will not escape justice and the Government will deal with them with the full force of law," said the ministry.

"The Government of India would be well advised to introspect and ensure the protection of the fundamental rights, lives, and places of worship of minorities across India, particularly Muslims who are facing brutal attacks from the proponents of ‘Hindutva’ holding on to the reins of power in the country," its added.

"Furthermore, unequivocal condemnation by the BJP top leadership and the Indian government, as well as decisive and demonstrable action against the BJP officials responsible for making sacrilegious remarks recently would be the first step towards healing the suffering of Muslims in India and the sentiments of Muslims worldwide."
