Pakistan announces 'Visa-on-Arrival' for delegates as Islamabad talks 2026 approach

By Zahid Shah

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has announced visa-on-arrival facilities for foreign delegates and journalists attending the upcoming Islamabad Talks 2026, as preparations intensify for the high-level diplomatic gathering in Islamabad.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan welcomes all participants traveling for the talks and urged airlines to allow boarding without prior visas. He noted that immigration authorities will issue visas upon arrival to facilitate smooth entry for delegates and media personnel.

A formal directive issued by the Interior Ministry also instructed all relevant authorities to ensure visa-on-arrival arrangements, while requesting international airlines to cooperate by permitting passengers linked to the talks to travel without visas.

The move comes amid evolving developments around the expected arrival of key delegations. Earlier, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, had indicated on social media that an Iranian delegation would arrive on Friday night. However, the delegation had not arrived at the time of reporting, and the post was later removed.

Meanwhile, the United States delegation is also yet to arrive but is expected to reach Islamabad later today, according to officials familiar with the arrangements.

The Islamabad Talks 2026 are being closely watched globally as Pakistan positions itself as a diplomatic venue amid ongoing regional tensions and efforts toward dialogue.
