Musk, top US CEOs join President Trump on China trip for Xi summit

By The South Asia Times

US President Donald Trump traveled to China on Wednesday aboard Air Force One, accompanied by several leading American business executives, including Elon Musk, as he prepared for high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to Anadolu Agency.

The May 13-15 visit marks the first trip by a US president to China since 2017 and comes amid efforts to ease tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

The summit was initially scheduled for April but was delayed due to the US-Israeli war against Iran.

A White House official confirmed that Musk was traveling with Trump, alongside executives from major American firms, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, NVIDA CEO Jensen Huang,  BlackRock CEO Larry Fink and Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon.

Trump said he would urge Xi to “open up” China further to American businesses. Trade disputes, artificial intelligence, Taiwan and the Strait of Hormuz are expected to dominate the talks between the two leaders.
