PM Shehbaz Meets Azerbaijani President Aliyev on Sidelines of ECO Summit

KHANKENDI, Azerbaijan – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, held in Khankendi from July 3–4, 2025.

During the bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated President Aliyev on successfully hosting the ECO Summit and commended the exemplary arrangements made by Azerbaijan. He also expressed deep appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their earlier visit to Lachin from May 27–29.

Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked Azerbaijan for its unwavering support to Pakistan during its recent conflict with India, highlighting the strength of the bilateral relationship. He reaffirmed that Pakistan has consistently stood by Azerbaijan during its challenging times as well.

The two leaders reviewed the growing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in trade and investment. They expressed satisfaction with recent progress on investment initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic ties, with a focus on expanding Azerbaijani investments in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz noted that recent high-level engagements had further deepened bilateral ties and extended an invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
