ISLAMABAD - Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has condemned the Islamabad suicide attack and expressed condolences to Pakistan’s leadership following the deadly terrorist attack that claimed 31 lives and injured nearly 170 people.

In separate letters addressed to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Putin conveyed his “deepest condolences on the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack,” condemning the killing of worshippers during a religious ceremony as evidence of the “barbaric and inhumane nature of terrorism.”

The Russian leader reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to strengthening counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan, signaling continued partnership in efforts to combat extremist violence.

Putin also extended sympathy and support to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured in the attack, which has drawn widespread international condemnation.

In response, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari thanked his Russian counterpart and said Islamabad deeply values Moscow solidarity.

“I thank President Vladimir Putin for his kind letter of condolence on the tragic terrorist attack in Islamabad. Pakistan deeply values Russia’s solidarity & our shared resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms,” President Asif Ali Zardari said on X.
