ISLAMABAD - Pakistani police on Sunday has repulsed a terrorist attack on their check post in Mainwali district of Punjab province and killing two terrorist, official said.

According to local officials, around a dozen terrorists had attacked the post from two sides, however police repulsed it.

During the exchange of firing two terrorists killed while one policeman also lost his life. 

On Saturday, Pakistan Army said that on night 28/ 29 September 2023, two engagements took place between security forces and the terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. 

“An intelligence based operation was conducted in general area Katalang, Mardan District, which resulted in killing of a high value target, terrorist ring leader Faisal. The killed terrorist was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities and was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies. Weapon and ammunition was also recovered from the killed terrorist,” said ISPR.

“In another encounter with terrorists in general area Parachinar, Kurram District, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. However, Lance Naik Ghairat Khan (age 33 years, resident of Kurram District), having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat.

"Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” said the military.

On Friday, terrorist attack at a procession to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad near a mosque in the Mastung district of the southwestern province of Balochistan martyred nearly 60 civilians. 

While in another attack, a terrorist blew himself up inside a mosque in Hangu district and killing at least five civilians. 

Pakistan said TTP terrorists based in Afghanistan carrying out attacks inside the South Asian country.
