Pakistan Navy tests indigenously built anti-ship missile in precision strike drill

RAWALPINDI – The Pakistan Navy on Thursday successfully conducted a live weapon firing of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship missile, hitting a target at extended range with high speed and pinpoint accuracy, the military’s media wing said.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf witnessed the firing alongside leading scientists and engineers, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The missile features a cutting-edge guidance system and advanced maneuverability, enabling it to evade threats, adapt to dynamic combat conditions, and deliver lethal precision against naval targets, the ISPR said.

“The successful launch of this indigenously developed missile underscores the fusion of technological excellence and operational expertise,” the statement read.

The test firing was described as a “resolute display of preparedness and precision-strike capability” by the navy, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining credible sea-based deterrence in the conventional domain.

The development comes as Pakistan plays a central diplomatic role in brokering ceasefire and peace talks between the United States and Iran, with regional maritime security remaining a key concern in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and the Arabian Sea.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces, and services chiefs separately commended the participating units and scientists for achieving the milestone.

Analysts view the successful test as a significant step toward reducing reliance on imported naval weapon systems, enhancing Pakistan’s self-sufficiency in defense production, and strengthening its ability to secure sea lanes against emerging threats.
