Pakistan condemns Houthi terrorist drone attack on Taif that killed Yemeni resident

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned a Houthi terrorist group's drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s Taif that killed a Yemeni resident and injured a Saudi citizen and a Pakistani national.
Dar said Pakistan was “deeply concerned” by the attack, which he described as a provocation that endangered innocent lives and threatened regional peace and security. He expressed Pakistan’s “full solidarity” with Saudi Arabia and its people.
Saudi Civil Defense said debris from a drone intercepted and destroyed over Taif fell on the city, killing a Yemeni resident and injuring a Saudi woman and a Pakistani resident, whose condition was reported to be critical. Buildings and vehicles were also damaged.
The incident comes amid a sharp escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi terrorist group, designated as a terrorist organization by several governments.
Saudi authorities have reported repeated Houthi terrorist missile and drone attacks on the kingdom in recent days. Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia said it intercepted a Houthi drone headed toward the area of Makkah.
The latest escalation has raised broader concerns about regional security, civilian safety and the impact on vital energy and shipping routes.
The Houthis have also carried out attacks affecting maritime traffic in and around the Red Sea, while Saudi Arabia has conducted military operations against Houthi positions in Yemen.
The Iranian role has also drawn international attention, with Iran accused of backing the Houthi terrorists in Yemen, as well as supporting armed groups in Iraq and Syria, amid wider regional tensions.
Pakistan has repeatedly called for restraint and regional stability while maintaining close security and diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia. The latest condemnation comes as Islamabad says it remains committed to strengthening cooperation with Riyadh and working for peace and stability across the region
