Pakistan Navy’s new Hangor-class submarine conducts first live missile firing

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Navy’s newly inducted submarine PNS/M Hangor has conducted its first live weapon firing in the North Arabian Sea, successfully striking a designated long-range target with an anti-ship cruise missile, according to Pakistan’s military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The firing was witnessed by Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, who praised the submarine’s combat capabilities and described the development of underwater warfare capabilities as strategically important for maintaining Pakistan’s maritime deterrence.
The Pakistan Navy said the exercise demonstrated the operational readiness of the newly inducted submarine and its ability to engage targets at long range.
ISPR said the milestone reflected the navy’s efforts to maintain a modern and combat-ready force capable of protecting Pakistan’s maritime frontiers.
The navy also linked the development to what it described as Pakistan’s broader objective of strengthening maritime security and contributing to regional peace.
The Hangor-class submarines are part of Pakistan’s effort to expand and modernize its undersea warfare capabilities.
