A senior Pakistan Army officer martyrs in a terrorist attack near Afghan border

ISLAMABAD - A senior intelligence officer of Pakistan Army has been martyred during an encounter with terrorists in Waziristan district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province near Afghan border, officials said.
According to Pakistan Army during an encounter with the hard core terrorists in general area Angoor Adda, South Waziristan, on Tuesday intense fire was exchanged.
“Brigadier Mustafa Kamal Barki from Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), while leading the encounter from the front, embraced Shahadat while 7 x members got injured (including 2 critically wounded),” said ISPR in a statement.
“Brigadier Barki and his team put up a valiant resistance against the terrorists during the encounter and the officer sacrificed his life for peace of the motherland,” the military said and pledged that the defense forces of Pakistan and intelligence agencies will eliminate the menace of terrorism from every inch of Pakistan .
In a separate incident, at least three security personnel also lost their lives when terrorists opened fire on a police check post in Dera Ismail Khan.
Security forces immediately cordoned the area and blocked all possible escape routes after the attack and killed three terrorists, said ISPR.
