Pakistan condemns Israeli storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, calls for global action

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has strongly condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli occupation forces, describing the move as a serious violation of international law and an attack on one of Islam’s holiest sites.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, the spokesperson said Israeli forces entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound--also known as Al-Haram Al-Sharif -- escalating tensions in Jerusalem and across the wider region.

According to the statement, Israeli forces stormed the mosque complex, a site revered by millions of Muslims worldwide, in what Pakistan termed a “reprehensible act” that undermines its sanctity and historical status.

The action was also described as being in violation of international legal frameworks and multiple United Nations resolutions concerning the status of the occupied territories.

Pakistan categorically rejected what it called ongoing attempts by Israel to alter the religious, historical, and legal character of the site. It urged the international community to take “urgent and effective measures” to prevent further provocations and to ensure protection of holy places.

Reaffirming its longstanding position, Pakistan reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause, including the right to self-determination. The statement emphasized the need for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.

The development comes amid heightened tensions in the region, where repeated incidents at the Al-Aqsa compound have often triggered wider unrest.
