Pakistan Welcomes Peace Agreement Between Azerbaijan and Armenia

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan on Saturday has welcomed the signing of a peace agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, calling it a historic development that marks the end of a prolonged conflict in the South Caucasus.

In an official statement, Islamabad hailed the “wisdom and sagacity” of Azerbaijan’s leadership in steering the decades-old dispute towards a peaceful resolution. The agreement is seen as a milestone that could open doors to greater regional stability, cooperation, and economic growth.

Pakistan also acknowledged and appreciated the role of former U.S. President Donald Trump in facilitating conflict resolution and promoting peace across different parts of the world. “His efforts in fostering dialogue and encouraging peaceful settlements are commendable,” the statement noted.

As a long-standing supporter of peace and stability in the Caucasus, Pakistan expressed hope that the deal will pave the way for lasting reconciliation and mutual trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia. “This agreement can usher in a new era of prosperity and enduring peace, not just for the two nations involved, but for the entire region,” the statement added.

Islamabad reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen regional harmony, stressing that peaceful coexistence is essential for the socio-economic uplift of nations. The development comes after years of tension and intermittent clashes between the two countries, particularly over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Pakistan remains optimistic that the peace accord will serve as a model for resolving other protracted conflicts worldwide through diplomacy and dialogue.
