By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD -  Commander of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces, Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov, called on Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.

The visiting dignitary was received by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Navy, which presented a Guard of Honour. Rear Admiral Mammadov also laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada’s Monument to pay tribute to fallen heroes, ISPR said on Tuesday.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional maritime security situation, and avenues for enhanced cooperation in training and defence.

They pledged to further strengthen and diversify the scope of the existing bilateral defence relationship. A briefing on the Pakistan Navy’s ongoing projects was also provided to the visiting official.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan share longstanding brotherly relations marked by close naval cooperation. The visit of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces commander is expected to further enhance collaboration between the two countries, particularly in maritime defence and security.
