By The South Asia Times

ISTANBUL/ISLAMABAD -  The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has summoned its member states to an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in response to Israel’s recent aggression against Iran and other regional states.

The 51st Session of the OIC CFM will be held on June 21–22, 2025 in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, will lead the Pakistani delegation to the high-level summit, where key regional and global issues facing the Muslim world will be discussed.

During the plenary session, Senator Dar will present Pakistan’s stance on critical geopolitical developments, including the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, the deteriorating Middle East security situation, and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He is expected to strongly condemn Israel’s actions against Iran and urge the OIC to adopt a unified and decisive stance, said Pakistan Foreign Ministry in a statement.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause, the Foreign Minister will emphasize the urgent need for peace in the region and increased humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza.

Senator Dar will also draw attention to the global rise in Islamophobia, and call for concrete steps to counter extremism, terrorism, and the adverse effects of climate change. He will reiterate Pakistan’s deep commitment to the principles and objectives of the OIC, and the collective responsibility to address challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.

On the sidelines of the CFM, Senator Dar is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of other OIC member states to discuss matters of mutual interest and regional cooperation.

Prior to the formal session, Senator Dar will attend the OIC Youth Forum’s Grand Youth Award ceremony, where the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will be honored for his leadership and contributions to the Muslim world.
