Pakistan expands ‘Operation Ghazab Lil Haq’ with airstrikes in Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia

By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD/KABUL -  Pakistan’s military has intensified its ongoing operation, codenamed "Operation Ghazab Lil Haq," carrying out what officials describe as sustained counter-attacks against Afghan Taliban forces following what Islamabad calls unprovoked cross-border aggression.

According to security sources, the Pakistan Army continued effective ground operations along the border, forcing Afghan Taliban fighters to abandon their posts near the Mohmand sector. Several Taliban hideouts were destroyed, and additional border fronts were cleared during the operation.

In a significant escalation, Pakistan also launched airstrikes targeting what officials described as key military installations of the Afghan Taliban regime inside Afghanistan.

Security sources said Pakistan Air Force strikes destroyed two brigade headquarters in Kabul. In Kandahar, a corps headquarters and a brigade headquarters were destroyed, along with an ammunition depot and a logistics base.

Another corps headquarters was said to have been targeted and destroyed in Paktia province.

Pakistan’s armed forces stated they are determined to deliver a full counter-attack against any threat to national security and will respond decisively to what they describe as continued unprovoked aggression.

Meanwhile, residents in Kabul also confirmed that they heard huge explosions in the city around 2.00 am local time.
