Saudi Arabia, Qatar thwart major destruction, arrest Israeli intelligence agents over bombing plot: US journalist

WASHINGTON - American political commentator Tucker Carlson claimed Monday that Saudi Arabia and Qatar had detained Israeli intelligence operatives accused of plotting bomb attacks inside Gulf countries, escalating already explosive regional tensions.

Speaking on his show, Carlson alleged that agents linked to Mossad were apprehended while planning attacks in states that are themselves facing Iranian retaliation, according to Anadolu.

He questioned why Israel would allegedly target Gulf nations often seen as aligned with Washington, claiming the objective was to widen instability across the region.

Carlson’s remarks come amid intensifying conflict following joint US-Israeli strikes that assassinated Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior officials.

Tehran has accused Washington and Tel Aviv of hitting civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, resulting in hundreds of deaths. In one of the deadliest incidents, Iranian officials said a strike on a girls’ school in southern Iran killed more than 160 students.

Iran responded with a sweeping barrage targeting Israeli territory and US military assets across the Middle East, disrupting air travel and shipping routes and sending global oil prices sharply higher.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it launched hundreds of missiles and drones against what it described as American and Israeli positions.

A drone strike also ignited a limited fire at a Saudi Aramco refinery in Ras Tanura on Monday. Iran denied responsibility, accusing the US and Israel of staging attacks from bases in Arab states to provoke a broader regional war.
