Iran foreign minister welcomes Pakistan-Turkiye-Saudi defense agreement

By The South Asia Times

TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reacted positively to the new defense agreement between Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, saying Muslim countries can confront external challenges by standing together.

In a post on X, Araghchi praised Iran’s armed forces for demonstrating their “readiness, capability, and might” in confronting what he described as the world’s most powerful military.

“When Muslims stand together, we can face every challenge by malicious outsiders head-on,” Araghchi said, calling for greater self-reliance and “true brotherhood” among Muslim countries.

His remarks came after Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia signed a joint defense agreement, under which an attack on one of the three countries is to be regarded as an attack on all three.

The agreement marks a significant development in defense cooperation among the three Muslim-majority countries.
