Pakistan Condemns Violence Against Minorities in India, Urges International Action

By The South Asia Times

Islamabad -  Pakistan strongly condemned the recent incidents of violence and persecution against minorities in India, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

In response to media queries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi expressed deep concern over attacks on religious communities, highlighting the recent acts of vandalism during Christmas and broader campaigns targeting Muslims.

“These condemnable incidents, including the demolition of Muslim homes and repeated lynchings, notably the case of Muhammad Akhlaq — in which the state shielded the perpetrators — have deepened fear and alienation among Muslims,” he said.

The spokesperson emphasized that the list of victims is extensive and warned that such actions have serious implications for social cohesion and human rights.

Mr. Andrabi called on the international community to take notice of these developments and urged steps to protect the fundamental rights of vulnerable communities in India.

The statement underscores Islamabad’s continued concern over minority rights in the region and reinforces Pakistan’s stance on defending the rights of oppressed communities globally.
