Dar Visits Beijing for Pakistan–China Strategic Dialogue, Reaffirms ‘All-Weather’ Partnership

BeijingPakistan and China on Sunday reaffired their "All-Weather’ Partnership" at strategic dialogue held in Beijing.

 

 The 7th Round of the Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, held in Beijing co-chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, according to foreign ministry statement.

 

During the dialogue, the two sides reviewed the entire spectrum of Pakistan–China relations and exchanged views on key regional and global issues. Discussions covered cooperation under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), bilateral trade, multilateral coordination, and people-to-people exchanges.

 

Highlighting the importance of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, both leaders reaffirmed that the Pakistan–China friendship remains vital for peace, stability, and prosperity for the two countries and the wider region. They also agreed to further enhance coordination at both bilateral and multilateral forums.

 

The two sides additionally agreed to mark in a befitting manner the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, using the milestone to advance a forward-looking vision for deeper cooperation.

 

Senator Dar’s visit is significant as he became the first foreign minister to visit China in 2026. His trip coincided with the arrival of the South Korean president in Beijing on a four-day visit, highlighting China’s active diplomatic engagement at the start of the year.

 

Separately, Senator Dar met Chinese Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, where both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further deepening the Pakistan–China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Vice Premier Ding appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support for China on issues of core interest and conveyed New Year greetings to Pakistan’s leadership and people.

 

Pakistan and China, often described as all-weather strategic friends, maintain strong economic ties, with bilateral trade exceeding $23 billion. A cornerstone of the relationship is CPEC, a flagship project valued at over $64 billion, which aims to link China to Pakistan’s Gwadar Port through a network of infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects, boosting regional connectivity and economic development.

 

The visit reaffirmed both sides’ resolve to strengthen cooperation amid evolving regional and global dynamics.
