By The South Asia Times

ISLAMABAD - Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, chief of army staff and cehif of defense forces, on Tuesday presided over the 273rd Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, where the country’s top military leadership reviewed the prevailing security environment and reaffirmed a firm resolve to counter all threats to national security.

The forum offered Fateha for the martyrs of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians who laid down their lives in recent terrorist incidents while defending the country against foreign-sponsored terrorism, according to ISPR.

Paying rich tribute to the courage, professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces, the COAS commended troops for their sustained intelligence-based counter-terrorism operations across the country. He said that combined efforts of the government, the military and the steadfast support of the people were helping Pakistan move steadily towards stability, greater opportunities and international respect.

Participants conducted a comprehensive review of internal and external security challenges, with a particular focus on evolving threats and operational preparedness. The forum reaffirmed that all terrorists operating under the patronage of Indian sponsors, along with their facilitators and abettors, would be dealt with decisively and without exception.

The conference categorically rejected any nexus between terrorism, crime and vested political interests, vowing that no attempt to undermine national unity, security or stability, or to create divisions between the armed forces and the people, would be tolerated.

The forum also appreciated Balochistan Special Development Initiatives aimed at local empowerment and social engagement, and called for similar public-centric measures elsewhere in line with the National Action Plan.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s principled positions, the forum expressed unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, unhindered humanitarian access and a credible pathway to Palestinian statehood.

In concluding remarks, the COAS directed commanders to maintain the highest standards of readiness, discipline and innovation, expressing full confidence in the Army’s ability to counter the full spectrum of threats while safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
