Pakistan army chief holds talks with top Turkish, Saudi officials in Istanbul

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s army chief and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a series of high-level meetings with Turkish and Saudi officials during his official visit to Türkiye, according to the military’s media wing.
Munir separately met Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler and Gen. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Chief of the Turkish General Staff, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Monday.
The meetings focused on bilateral defence cooperation, matters of mutual interest and the regional security situation, according to the statement.
Munir also attended a meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee established under the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence, which brings together Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia.
The three countries reviewed ways to strengthen strategic coordination and defence cooperation, ISPR said.
The meetings come as Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia seek to deepen their strategic and defence ties amid a rapidly changing regional security environment.
ISPR said the engagements reflected the “close bonds of brotherhood” and growing strategic and defence cooperation among the three countries.
