Pakistan, Azerbaijan Sign $2 Billion Investment Agreement to Boost Bilateral Ties

KHANKENDI, Azerbaijan – Pakistan and Azerbaijan have signed a landmark agreement for $2 billion in investments across various sectors of Pakistan's economy, marking a significant step in deepening economic and strategic ties between the two nations.

The agreement was signed by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Azerbaijan’s Minister for Economy Mikayil Jabbarov following a warm bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on the sidelines of the 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi, according to Radio Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Aliyev jointly witnessed the signing ceremony. A final and comprehensive agreement is expected to be signed during President Aliyev’s upcoming visit to Pakistan.

The agreement is poised to elevate trade and investment relations to a historic level and is expected to serve as a catalyst for enhancing bilateral cooperation. It reflects the shared vision of both countries to transform their brotherly ties into a robust and dynamic economic partnership.

Officials from both sides hailed the agreement as a major milestone that will open new avenues for collaboration in energy, infrastructure, technology, and other key sectors.
