COAS Asim Munir Visits Peshawar, Vows to Eliminate Terrorists and Safeguard Borders

PESHAWAR - Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Peshawar on Thursday, where he met tribal elders and received a detailed briefing on the prevailing security situation and ongoing counterterrorism efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS was briefed at Headquarters 11 Corps on operational preparedness and measures being undertaken to ensure peace and stability in the region.

During an interactive session with a Jirga of tribal elders, the Army Chief lauded the unwavering support and sacrifices of the tribal people during the recent standoff between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban. He paid rich tribute to their resilience in the fight against terrorism and reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces, with public support, will completely eliminate terrorists and their facilitators from the region.

Field Marshal Munir stressed that Pakistan seeks peace with all neighbors, including Afghanistan, but warned that Islamabad “will not tolerate cross-border terrorism” emanating from Afghan soil. He noted that while Pakistan has shown patience and extended diplomatic gestures to Kabul, the Afghan Taliban regime continues to shelter Indian-backed terror groups, including Fitna al Khwarij and Fitna al Hindustan.

The tribal elders reaffirmed their full support to the armed forces and condemned the extremist ideology of militant outfits, stating that such narratives have “no acceptance” among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Upon arrival in Peshawar, the COAS was received by the Commander Peshawar Corps.
